Today, with the intention of continuing the family tradition after several generations, the products with the Matarravalva brand are selected by choosing the Iberian pigs raised naturally, in the Extremadura pasture.

If you are not sure when buying, you can always ask the person who is selling it to you, but we are going to give you some guidelines so that you know what you are buying.

The main difference that distinguishes one ham from another is the type of diet that the Iberian pig has received from its birth to its final sacrifice. Cebo Iberian ham is obtained from animals that have been raised with cereals, feed and legumes, while acorn-fed ham has been fed with natural feed, and in the montanera period (from October to February) exclusively with aromatic herbs and acorns found in the pasture, so we can say that its entire source of food is natural. In this fattening phase, which occurs in the montanera, the animal is fed until it reaches an optimal weight for slaughter.
